My weight bounced up and down like a yo-yo for over 10 years.   Many of my friends in college were “perfect.”  I wanted to be just like them, and tried EVERYTHING to get my weight under control.

I kept an eye on them since we were always together.  They ate the exact same foods I did.  It never appeared on their bodies, while it seemed everything I ate stuck right to my waist and hips.

My very first diet was one you may have tried.  Just two protein shakes a day plus a salad or other sensible dinner (what in the world does “sensible dinner” mean).

Despite loving my new “low fat” body, I couldn’t take it anymore!  I replaced just one of the protein shakes with a real meal.  The weight came back on so fast it would have made your head spin.

Next time it will be different.  Each time a friend got married, it was time to “try again” before the wedding.  I’d lose the weight only to watch it magically appear on my body again.

Over the years, my friends and family watched me struggle, strain, and fail dozens of times.  They watched my weight bounce up and down until the scale became my mortal enemy.

Time to call in the professionals.  This time I went to one of those local weight loss programs where you buy food, work with leaders, and check in weekly on the results.

A strict calorie controlled diet with personal help and accountability had to be right for me.  Someone to tell me exactly what to eat.  I went to every weekly meeting and picked up my prepackaged food for the week.

The food sucked, but I didn’t care.  I lost weight.  I thought being hungry was just part of dieting.  You know the old saying, “No pain, no gain.”

I was married to the gym.  All that exercise combined with barely enough calories to feed a rabbit left me lightheaded and worn out.

I went to my Mom’s friend’s house for dinner.  She made chicken nachos. I ate and ate…and almost couldn’t stop. My famished body was screaming out for real food!

Why could everybody else eat what they wanted, but not me? It wasn’t like I was eating fast food every day or even chips and cookies.

Ten years on the diet rollercoaster.  Multiple sizes of clothing in my closet…do you realize how expensive that is?    Constant cravings.  Desperate hunger.

By the end of the day, I had to unbutton my pants because my stomach was so bloated.  I felt the weight coming on when I just looked at a cookie. Failure wears you out.

Everything came back normal from all the blood tests and the full physical.  My mother has thyroid issues so it had to be the culprit.  Nope.   My doctor gave me his medical opinion, “You need to eat less and work out harder.”

How could I go to the gym five days a week, participate in the hardest classes like kickboxing and boot camps, and even hire a personal trainer…without seeing long-term results?

My weight didn’t budge at 1,300 calories a day.   I tore into every new diet in fitness magazines.  Nothing happened until…

Some people give up out of life-long frustration, but something just wouldn’t let me quit.  I was on a mission.  I even went back to school to become a nutritionist.

During my nutrition program I was blessed to learn from Health Experts such as Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Mark Hyman.

When I applied my new hypothesis to my eating, I couldn’t believe it.  My husband commented on the changes.  Not just in my body.  I always lost weight before.  This was different.  My hunger was gone.  The struggle had ended.  Weight was melting off without dieting!
