I also have a storyline. Last friday, March 2nd 2012, 18 of us, had an experience of a life time when we met Mr. Suresh Hundre, CMD of Polyhydron group of businesses, Belgaum.
He is an amazing mix of aspiration, humility, success, spirituality, experience, country loving, value driven, super confident and a lot more. Having one such quality for a lot of us will make us feel proud of ourself. Having all of them in ONE man, was never expected by me, yet it was real. Meeting him made me realise, that is the sort of man I was unknowingly searching my entire life. It would happen to be brilliant to find him within me. However, as a consolation, I found him outside me.
Previously 25 years, his business has not paid one rupee as bribe nor created one rupee as black money. His group business’s employee turnover is about 125 crores. He works at a profit margin of about 40%.
He shares his riches open heartedly, with his workers. In the last 4 years, every worker has a bonus of 100%. It ended up being a privilege to share a couple of hours with him. He is simply incredible.
With a wry grin he shared, Previously, we too would take shortcuts and save a few hundred here, a thousand there by cheating and other malpractices. One episode changed my life forever. One IT inspector, understood the fudging of our records and filed a case against us. He was utmost corrupt. We were relaxed for we believed since he was corrupt he can be handled’. He, however, had other plans in his plan. The IT officer needed a promotion. For that he needed to file this case to show his skills. With sympathy in his voice that tainted policeman told me, generally he’d taken something and we’d have settled the matter. You see, if he did that he is not going to get promoted. After promoted, his share of bribes will go up. Thus, he needed to file a case against us.’ Mr. Suresh Hundre was really mad with the inspector. It turned out to be a burning point.
Many Indian businessmen do this as common practice. Even she had to show up in the court when the hearing was on. She was innocent in truth although not in the eyes of law. He felt a profound sense of shame and vowed to make corrections.
He determined, he will face any challenge, however he WOn’t ever pay a single paise as bribe and he will never create one rupee as black money.
We were 18 of us who were with Mr. Hundre. There was pin drop silence in Mr Hundre’s office. While many people would have gone through this type of chagrin, we’d have picked an easy path outside. For several instants our conscience might have troubled us, shortly it will be conveniently forgotten. It would have stayed as a burning stage.
Till now all of us needed to believe, in our beloved India, doing business without corruption is hopeless. We wished to believe, in our love India, becoming successful without corruption is hopeless. Remember, he pays an income tax of about Rs 50,000/- for every WORKING HOUR. We desired to consider Truthfulness is no more the GREATEST policy’.
All of us were exposed. Our need for a life of convenience rather than a life of principles was exposed.
Using a nostalgic look in his eyes, Mr Suresh Hundre said, It has not been easy. If you beloved this article and you would like to acquire far more info concerning thank you for sympathy kindly take a look at our own web page. It’s been very quite hard. However, it is WORTH IT. And he grinned a smile at all people.
It ended up being a moment that will often be etched in my own head. That smile! It was not a smile of conceit. It wasn’t a smile that challenged you. It ended up being a smile filled with encouragement. It was a smile a grandfather has when he shares a naughty youth key along with his grandchildren and the grandchildren are somewhat scandalized but in total awe of the grandpa. Ahaaa! To be there in those moments was absolute ecstasy.
Mr. Suresh Hundre said, I don’t request any one to follow my trail. For, this path is hard. Walking on this route can’t be driven. It has to come from an incredibly heavy want. All that I request is, cease saying it is not possible. Begin saying, IT TRULY IS POSSIBLE.
When we bid goodbye to Mr. Hundre, I read the rear decal on his Reva, Only a drop in the ocean. Yes really a drop in the ocean. But not merely’ a drop. He could be the drop that becomes the pearl. He is that pearl which is the rarest and also the most precious.
Thank you Mr Suresh Hundre. You’ve inspired all 18 of us. My beloved reader friends, I consider, through this narrative’ you too must happen to be inspired. It is Possible !!!
With lots of love, prayers and best wishes,
