Mr. Suresh Hundre’s wife was an inactive partner in the company. Many Indian businessmen do this as common practice. Even she had to show up in the court when the hearing was on. She was innocent in truth but not in the eyes of law. This burning point became his turning point. He felt a profound sense of shame and vowed to make corrections.
He decided, he can face any challenge, however he will never pay a single paise as bribe and he will never create a single rupee as black money.
We were speechless. While many of us would have gone through this kind of humiliation, we might have picked an easy route outside. For several minutes our conscience would have troubled us, shortly it would be conveniently forgotten. It might have stayed as a burning stage. For Mr. Suresh Hundre, it became a turning point!
Till now all of us desired to believe, in our beloved India, doing business without corruption is hopeless. We desired to believe, in our love India, becoming successful without corruption is hopeless. We wanted to consider Truthfulness is no more the FINEST policy’.
Our dependence on a life of convenience and not a life of principles was exposed.
Having a nostalgic look in his eyes, Mr Suresh Hundre said, It hasn’t been simple. It’s been really quite tough. But, it has been WORTH IT. And he beamed a smile at all people.
