Narratives have power. They delight, enchant, touch, educate, remember, inspire, stimulate, challenge. They help us understand. They imprint a picture on our thoughts. Tell a story. – Janet Litherland

I also have a story. Last friday, March 2nd 2012, 18 of us, had an experience of a life time when we met Mr. Suresh Hundre, CMD of Polyhydron group of businesses, Belgaum.

He’s an unbelievable mix of ambition, humility, success, spirituality, expertise, country adoring, value driven, super assured and a lot more. Having one such quality for all people will make us feel proud of ourself. Having all of these in ONE man, was never anticipated by me, though it was real. Meeting him made me realise, this can be exactly the sort of man I was unknowingly hunting my entire life. It would happen to be brilliant to find him within me. Nevertheless, as a consolation, I located him outside me. I felt blessed.

In the past 25 years, his company has not paid one rupee as bribe nor generated just one rupee as black cash. His group firm’s employee turnover is all about 125 crores. He works at a profit margin of about 40%. For each working hour, he pays an income tax of Rs 50,000/-.

He shares his wealth open heartedly, with his workers. In the last 4 years, every employee has got a bonus of 100%. It ended up being a privilege to share a number of hours with him. He’s just unbelievable.

One event changed my life forever. One IT inspector, understood the fudging of our records and filed a case against us. He was utmost tainted. We were rested for we thought since he was tainted he can be handled’. He, however, had other plans in his agenda. The IT policeman wanted a promotion. For that he needed to file this case to show his skills. With sympathy in his voice that tainted policeman told me, ordinarily he’d taken something and we’d have settled the issue. You see, if he did that he WOn’t get promoted. Once encouraged, his share of bribes will go up. Mr. Suresh Hundre was really upset with the inspector. It was a burning point.

Mr. Suresh Hundre’s wife was an inactive partner in the business. Even she had to show up in the court when the hearing was on. For mistakes done by him, his wife was now paying the price and standing as an offender. She was innocent in truth but not in the eyes of law. He felt a deep sense of shame and vowed to make corrections.

He determined, he can face any challenge, but he WOn’t ever pay a single paise as bribe and he can never create one rupee as black cash.

We were 18 of us who were with Mr. Hundre. We were speechless. While many of us would have gone through this sort of humiliation, we might have picked an easy route outside. For several minutes our conscience would have troubled us, shortly it will be conveniently forgotten. It would have remained as a burning point. For Mr. Suresh Hundre, it became a turning point!

Till today all of us needed to believe, in our beloved India, doing business without corruption is hopeless. We wanted to believe, in our love India, becoming successful without corruption is impossible. We desired to believe Honesty is no more the GREATEST policy’.

Our mental frailties were exposed. Our need for a life of convenience rather than a life of principles was exposed.

With a nostalgic look in his eyes, Mr Suresh Hundre said, It has not been easy. It has been really quite challenging. But, it has been WORTH IT. And he grinned a smile at all of us.

It ended up being a moment that can always be etched in my own thoughts. That smile! It was not a smile of arrogance. It wasn’t a smile that challenged you. It ended up being a grin full of encouragement. It was a smile a grandpa has when he shares a naughty youth key along with his grandchildren and the grandchildren are somewhat scandalized but in absolute amazement of the grandpa. Ahaaa! To be there in those seconds was sheer ecstasy.

Mr. Suresh Hundre said, I don’t request any one to follow my route. For, this path is difficult. Walking on this trail is unable to be compelled. It must come from a very heavy want. Here’s more information on thank you sympathy notes (http://editorialeitaliano.it) have a look at our own site. All that I request is, quit saying it is not possible. Begin saying, IT IS POSSIBLE.

When we bid good-bye to Mr. Hundre, I read the rear decal on his Reva, Only a drop in the ocean. Yes indeed a drop in the ocean. However, not only’ a drop. He’s the drop that becomes the pearl. He is that pearl that’s the rarest and the most prized.

You have inspired all 18 of us. My beloved reader pals, I consider, through this narrative’ you also must happen to be inspired. It’s Possible !!!

With lots of love, prayers and best wishes,

naren
