Pistol Squat – **ADVANCED** – Stand with your feet a few inches apart as well as your hands at your disposal. (If you are doing this exercise the very first time, you may need to use a doorway to keep yourself in position while performing the exercise). Shift your bodyweight right leg and set your arms straight out for balance. Keeping your left leg straight lift up and hold it straight, about 6 inches off the floor. Bracing your core and taking advantage of your arms for balance, slowly squat down only using your right leg before you are as low as you are able to go. Optimally, your thigh is going to be beyond parallel and your butt near to touching the ground. Stand support by straightening out your right leg and going back to the starting position.

While every shin splint injury has its own specific biomechanical causes, most are rooted in tight calf muscles and relative weakness in the front leg muscles. What’s going on is that your tight calves are pulling up on your heel, which in turn pulls the front of your foot down. These 3 exercises are only the basic exercises but they are very effective in making your legs stronger to jump higher. But you should understand that just doing leg exercises is not the best way to increase your vertical leap. You should also include upper body exercises, plyometrics, balance and form exercises and strength training routine training in your training routine to gain the best results.
