Furthermore, these extensive instructions describe the construction of the wooden stilt house shown in the pictures with the short stilts, like the blue house shown. The additional pictures in the gallery of the house with longer stilts are variations of the described play house with children’s slide, sandpit and ladder. These pictures have been provided by customers who have purchased the construction manual for the play house and who have modified the house to their own specifications. These images are for illustration purposes only. The attached wood and cutting list refers to the stilt house with the short stilts!

Description: The wooden kids playhouse consists of squared timbers, flat boards as well as grooved and tongued boards, all made of spruce wood. This play house is designed in the same way as the large prefabricated walls of wooden houses and is therefore exceptionally sturdy and durable. Additional stability is provided by the fact that all connections are screwed (with wood screws). Most comparable ready-made industrial products, on the other hand, merely use tacked boards which is why such wooden houses begin losing stability within 1-2 years. This small wooden house is built on struts to avoid any unpleasant little creatures making their way inside. Bituminous sheeting or roofing felt attached with roof nails is used to seal the roof.
The kids playhouse on stilts has been thoroughly planned down to the very last detail. Its interior can be furnished according to your individual wishes. For example, a fold-away bench seat with magnetic holders attached to the legs can be installed. If it is folded away, a small child’s chair can be placed in front of the little table. The latticed windows on both sides each measure 45 cm². To equip the house for the winter months, a Perspex pane can be affixed with a U-shaped hook in order to provide protection from the cold weather. It can be removed during the summer.
The table can also be folded away against the wooden wall according to the same principle. Thanks to the beam construction (reinforcing squared timber) it is possible to put up shelving on the walls, for storing toy kitchen utensils for example. At night the house can be illuminated with a battery-run lamp, which, in combination with the light wood provides a warm and pleasant lighting effect.
Two small chairs can easily be placed on the veranda, which has a width of 70 cm. The double-leafed door has a height of 1.10 cm. The whole door can be completely bolted from the outside. From the inside, however, it is only possible to open the upper half of the door, like an additional window. In case you have to dismantle the kids playhouse plans (if you are moving house or wish to sell it), it can be reduced down to its basic supporting elements (four side walls, two balustrade elements, one base construction, one veranda supporting construction as a frame and tongue and groove boards for the roof).
The items shown inside the children’s wooden play house in the photos (bench, shelves, table, chairs etc.) are not included in the material requirements list and their installation is not part of the assembly instructions either. The following material quantities are required: 1) Wood (the most cost-effective, and the type we also used, is spruce): The wood can be bought from every DIY store or specialist wood stockists, or from every roofing company supplier, which is usually cheaper. It must be pointed out that the wood dimensions can vary slightly, depending on regions. Even the big DIY stores do not have a standard norm measurement, as they have different suppliers from different regions. With a little technical skill and talent, however, it is still possible to perfectly assemble the play house with slightly varying wood, which will have a minimal effect on its final dimensions, or the way it is assembled. In our case, all of the timber used has been planed. Part of the assembly instructions for the children’s play house is a list of timbers with indicated lengths. All you have to do is hand this to the wood dealer and they will cut the wood to the measurements provided. The following timber is required:
The corresponding saw work must be carried out on the wood (cut to length, corner cuts, notches, curves and surface cut-outs). The tools you will need are: a jigsaw, a circular saw, a hammer, a wood chisel and a yardstick. 2) Bonding: Bonding materials can be purchased from every DIY store or specialist wood stockists, or directly from a screw dealer, which is usually cheaper.
The use of Torx screw heads is recommended with… Read more…
